Embee – Music Producer, Songwriter and DJ

Music producer, musician, songwriter and DJ. Soundism affiliate.
Born and raised in Västerås. Based in Stockholm (Sweden) since 2015. Previously, between 1997-2015, in Gothenburg (Sweden).

In 1991 Embee founded Looptroop (now Looptroop Rockers) together with Promoe and has been responsible for the group’s production and music ever since as music producer. Since 1998, Embee is running the record label David vs Goliath together with the other members of Looptroop Rockers.

A large number of records have been created in his songwriting and music production studio The Wax Cabinet through the years; from the first noisy cassettes in Looptroop’s early days to the Swedish Grammy Award-winning debut album “Tellings from Solitaria“. This is where he produced his 2010 solo-album “The Mellow Turning Moment“, with lots of new collaborations with vocalists. The band Skuggpoeten (Embee and Esmeralda Moberg) released “Skuggpoeten” in 2010, an urban folk music album with lyrics from the poetry book “Dikter från världens mitt med omnejd”, by Roger Bergkvist.

Two years in a row, Embee has been awarded Best Producer at the Swedish Hiphop Awards solidifying his standing as a music producer. He also won the Swedish DeeJay Awards in 2004 and 2006.

The debut solo album “Tellings from Solitaria” was in the making for over two years. It’s a very versatile and widely appealing album that touches many fields on the musical map. It features fine guests like José González, Timbuktu, Vanessa Liftig, Daniel Lemma, Looptroop and Reinis Zarins Jazz Quartet. The most successful single off the album is “Send Someone Away“, which is featured on various compilations worldwide and gained a lot of recognition, mainly in the UK, Australia and Scandinavia. A remake of the song is featured on José González album In Our Nature (Imperial Records, 2007).

The tour schedule for Looptroop has been infinite since 1998. They have touched down in nearly all European countries, USA, Canada, Japan, Australia, Russia and South Africa. The response has been overwhelming all over the world; in front of 500 people at The Roxy in LA or on the main stage at the Splash Festival in front of 20.000.

Embee have also done many shows as a solo artist and DJ. In 2006 he did a tour in China together with Vanessa Liftig, Timbuktu and a seven-man band. A long-lasting tour of Tokyo nightclubs was carried out over a five month period in 2007, when Embee did appearances as a DJ at a dozen of well-known venues throughout the city.

The Japan-stay made a strong mark in the career with lots of new connections and also some skills in the japanese language after months of studying. The period in Tokyo has already resulted in work for japanese acts and labels like Antennasia, DJ Nomak, Plaza &  P-Vine.

Embee’s influences are vast and varied. Music-wise you’ll find them in soul, jazz and hiphop but also in pop, rock and electronic dance music. He is also a dedicated jogger and it might not have been a coincidence that he was the man behind the underground-classic Long Distance Runner by Promoe back in 2004. Some of the tracks he did for Promoe are Songs of Joy (feat. Capleton), In the Morning  (feat. Daville) and Euro Trash (feat. Leeroy of Saïan Supa Crew).

Embee has produced, remixed and written songs on a freelance-basis for a long list of artists and is constantly looking for new challenges besides Looptroop Rockers and the solo-career. One excursion is the mixtape-CD Mash Hits that was released in 2006 and contains remixes and rearrangements of hit songs from various artists from the 70’s up ’til now.

In April 2008 Looptroop Rockers released their fourth full-length album entitled “Good Things“, thru Bad Taste Records. As usual all the music is written by music producer Embee. The album marks a new era for Looptroop musically with lots of new expressions and a singing producer and has been critically acclaimed worldwide. This was followed up with Professional Dreamers in 2011 on the same label.

Embee has continued to do the music production of Looptroop Rockers with two releases on Sony Music: Mitt Hjärta Är En Bomb (2013) and Naked Swedes (2014).

Looproop Rocker’s Motivation Music  was released in 2018 on the record label David vs Goliath.

The appreciation of Embee’s accomplishments was solidified in perpetuity when he was inducted to the Swedish Music Hall of Fame in 2017, together with his fellow band members in Looptroop Rockers. This is an honor given to a select few who have made a significant and lasting impact on Swedish music.
