Our long time friends Looptroop Rockers have been inducted to the Swedish Music Hall of Fame!
“Altogether, the Vasteras quartet’s production is enormous and their importance to urban Swedish music is hardly any less”, reads the presentation of the group by the Swedish Music Hall of Fame organization.
The Swedish Music Hall of Fame includes artists, bands, musicians, and music creators (songwriters) with a quality and significance that is lasting over time. All genres of popular music are covered by the Swedish Music Hall of Fame, but not art music such as classical music or opera.
As a foundation established in 2011, the organization is also running an exhibition of Swedish popular music open to the public. It first opened in the Pop House by the ABBA Museum in May 2013, where visitors could view jury motivations, biographies, photographs and more. During 2017, the exhibition is relocating as both ABBA The Museum and the Swedish Music Hall of Fame exhibition have outgrown their available space with more than one million visitors during the first four years.
Looptroop Rockers
Promoe and Embee founded the hip hop group Looptroop in 1991, with CosMIC joining soon after. Supreme completed the group in 1996. Until today, the music group has had the same members with the exception of a period when CosMIC took a break from the band around 2007-2010. During this period the group’s official name became Looptroop Rockers, after having been used unofficially.
Starting out with a cassette release in 1993, followed by twelve inches, the group now has an impressive pile of releases. When the solo releases of Promoe and Embee are included, they have a massive 16 full length albums. Looptrop’s first full length album was Modern Day City Symphony in 2000. It was followed by the The Struggle Continues album in 2002. A breakthrough among a wider audience came in 2005 with the album Fort Europa. These albums and several other Looptroop releases have tracks recorded and mixed by Soundism’s Vladi Vargas and produced by Embee.
Looptroop Rockers is Sweden’s biggest hip hop music export of all times.
The Selection Process for the Swedish Music Hall of Fame
A prerequisite for inclusion in this exclusive group of music artists is having released the first music album at least 20 years ago. This rule ensures the inclusion only of artists and bands that have a verified impact and importance to the development of the field of music in Sweden that is sustained of a longer period of time. Artists that are hugely popular, but only temporarily, are not eligible even if they are big names of the moment. Thus, more is required. Artists and music creators in the field of popular music from 1920 and onward are possible nominees.
The decision to induct new members is made by a jury of highly regarded music journalists and music connoisseurs. Membership in the selection committee changes from year to year and this allows broad coverage of branches in the popular music field.
The group of artists, bands, and musicians who are in the Swedish Music Hall of Fame already may name new nominees for consideration to the committee.

During the year 2019, the work of the Swedish Music Hall of Fame came to a pause as its director passed away.
